Is Pharmaceutical Packaging Design doing its thing?

2023

While extracting a pill for my grandmother from a blister pack, I discovered that the expiration date was missing. This seemingly mundane incident serves as the starting point, which turned into a profound examination of pharmaceutical packaging design.

I dissect the multifaceted responsibilities inherent in pharmaceutical packaging—far beyond its functional role. The narrative unfolds as I explore the silent guardianship of expiration dates, the intricate dance between legal requirements and user-friendly design, and the cultural and political nuances woven into every detail.

The exploration includes an in-depth look at the visionary 'Self Expiring' concept proposed by designer Kanupriya Goel and biologist Gautam Goel. The concept challenges established paradigms and placing user safety at the forefront.
